Tree of Hope 2016: Comfort for Palliative Care Patients 

This season, our Tree of Hope is focused on comfort for families and patients in the palliative care rooms at the Barrhead Healthcare Centre.

A local committee of physicians and nurses selected two specialized palliative care beds as the priority purchase for 2016. These beds gently redistribute pressure by adjusting air in the mattress and can help patients move from lying to sitting at the touch of a button—features standard hospital beds can’t provide.

• Cost: $15,128 each

• Why it matters: Improved comfort, skin protection, and easier repositioning for patients and care teams.

In recent years, Tree of Hope donors have helped fund Panda Warmers, endoscopy scopes, and laboratory microscopes—the everyday tools that make care safer and kinder.

How to give (2016)

• $10 lights a bulb

• $250 purchases an ornament

• Star levels: Bronze $500 • Silver $1,000 • Gold $2,500
