Camp Creek Community Hall Association Donation

Barrhead Healthcare Centre Auxiliary president, Heather Thompson, joined 13 other Barrhead charities and individuals at the Barrhead Leader office. They were gathered together to receive a donation to their businesses, charity, or athletic endeavor from the Camp Creek Community Hall Association.
Heather accepted two cheques on behalf of Dr. W. R. Keir Barrhead Continuing Care Centre and the Barrhead Cancer Centre located in the Barrhead Healthcare Centre.
The Camp Creek Community Hall Association Donation
The Camp Creek Community Hall Association ran and maintained the community hall and surrounding property. Two and a half years ago the association sold the property and hall to Pembina Pipeline. The funds from the sale of the aging building and property were kept in trust with the County of Barrhead.
In 2025, it was determined by the Association that the County of Barrhead project to enhance recreation was not one they could get behind. At that time, they decision was made to donate the funds to local Barrhead charities.
Dr. W.R.Keir Barrhead Continuing Care Centre received a$296,673 donation. The Barrhead Cancer Centre received a donation of $150,000.
The Camp Creek Community Hall Association asked that the money be used to upgrade areas within both the Continuing Care Centre and Barrhead Healthcare Centre to benefit Barrhead and community patients. Keir Care will be updating the Dining facility as well as upgrade furniture within the Centre. Barrhead Healthcare Centre will be updating palliative care rooms.
Three areas in Barrhead’s Healthcare facilities will benefit from the generously large donation made by the Camp Creek Community Hall Association. The Dining Hall and furniture requirements for the residents at Keir Care, and the Palliative Care room located in Barrhead’s Healthcare Centre.
