Local Garden Centre Donates Waves of Summer Florals to Barrhead Healthcare Centre

Local Business Donates to Barrhead Healthcare Centre Auxiliary

For the third summer in a row, Northern Flora Garden Centre, a family-run local business, has generously donated containers of blooming annuals to the Barrhead Healthcare Centre Auxiliary. This year’s delivery included six overflowing 16-inch containers of vivid Pink Wave Petunias, which now brighten both the Healthcare Centre’s main entrance and the tranquil courtyard known as Ella’s Garden

A Garden With Purpose and Peace: Ella’s Garden

Ella’s Garden is more than a courtyard—it’s a space designed to soothe, to heal, and to inspire. Created with the support of a generous bequest from longtime Auxiliary member Ella Anderson, this courtyard sanctuary is a testament to the power of one person’s kindness. Today, her legacy lives on in every bloom and every peaceful moment spent in the space.

The garden features a thoughtfully planted mix of hydrangeas, astilbe, hostas, and other flowering perennials, with cozy seating areas and elegant ironwork features that make the space both welcoming and serene.

Local Volunteers Support Barrhead Healthcare Centre Gardens

Keeping It Beautiful: Volunteer Power Behind the Garden

Behind the garden’s ongoing beauty is a team of dedicated volunteers from the Barrhead Healthcare Centre Social Club:
Lori Begert, Lesya Hove, Corinna Walker, and Tracy Calihoo work tirelessly throughout the growing season, caring for the containers and maintaining the flower beds.

Their weekly efforts—weeding, watering, and adding seasonal touches—make the space a joy to visit year-round. In December, they even install sparkling seasonal décor to keep spirits high through the winter.

These individuals are proof that small acts of care, when done consistently, create a big impact.

Why Local Donations Matter

Whether it’s a container of petunias or a few hours of volunteer work, local support fuels the Auxiliary’s mission to enhance healthcare spaces for everyone. Donations from businesses like Northern Flora Garden Centre and the commitment of volunteers, like our Social Club members, help create a welcoming, peaceful environment that promotes healing and wellbeing.
