Summer Work Bee at Ella’s Garden: Auxiliary Volunteers In Action

In June 2024, members of the Barrhead Healthcare Centre Auxiliary rolled up their sleeves and dug in—literally—to refresh and revitalize Ella’s Garden, our beautiful courtyard sanctuary at the healthcare centre. The team came together for a full-day Work Bee, clearing weeds, pruning greenery, and preparing the space for summer enjoyment by patients, families, and staff.
“Ella’s Garden is more than a garden—it’s a place of reflection, beauty, and healing,” said one of the volunteers. “It’s an honor to care for it.”
From carefully edging the borders and walkways to tackling the stubborn weeds under the bridges and stairways, the Auxiliary’s volunteer team didn’t miss a spot. The gardens now shine with care, framed by bright foliage, clean lines, and the peaceful presence of our signature angel statue.
The courtyard is named in memory of Ella Anderson, whose legacy gift helped establish the space. The Auxiliary continues to maintain it with regular seasonal cleanups, donations of plants, and countless volunteer hours.
